The Buzz moves to 105.3, 96.7 to be Viva Simulcast

105.3 the Buzz
Alternative rock station 96.7 the Buzz (WBZY-FM) has moved up the dial to 105.3 effective as of noon today. The station started three years ago in an effort to compete with Susquehanna's 99X (WNNX). Unfortunantly, the signal of 96.7 is only 2.15kW Class A, and has a range of about 25-30 miles, so the station never got off of the ground.

The music mix of the Buzz is apparently changing along with the frequency, now going after the 21-34 male audience. The station is without DJ's at this time, but it is not know if the DJ's who were at 96.7 will stay on board, nor if "Loveline" will remain on the station.

As for 96.7, it now has the WVWA callsign, and on Monday 5/16 will become a simulcast of spanish contemporary Viva 105.7 (WWVA-FM), which moved up from the Buzz's new home of 105.3.

At this time it is not known what is happening to WHEL-FM 105.1 Helen, which was simulcasting Viva. It is expected to return to a simulcast of WGST 640 AM, but might remain a simulcast of Viva.
