96.7 the Buzz appears to be next Clear Channel casualty
For fans of the low-powered 96.7 the Buzz (WBZY-FM), I am the bearer of what appears to be the bad news.
Although unconfirmed at this time, 96.7 the Buzz appears to be the second CC station in a week to flip formats. It appears that it will be a simulcast of spanish-language Viva 105.7, which moved up from 105.3 on Monday. This information is based on FCC call letter change activity. Here is the breakdown:
- 105.7, former WLCL (Cool), now bears the WWVA-FM callsign (Viva)
- 105.3, former WWVA-FM, now temporarily bears the WLCL callsign. The new format for 105.3 has not yet been announced, and the callsign will most likely change again when the new format launches
- 105.1 Helen, former WVWA (Viva simulcast), returns to it's original WHEL callsign. It is expected that the WGST simulcast will return to this frequency.
- 96.7, former WBZY-FM, now bears the WVWA callsign
- WBZY-FM callsign no longer in use
Again, it is not confirmed by anyone at this time, but the callsign activity appears to speak for itself.
